The Factory Welcomes Former Oregon State Coach Aaron Vail To The Program

July 11, 2016

The Factory Fastpitch Club is proud to announce that they have landed the services of Former Oregon State Assistant Softball Coach & Recruiting Coordinator Aaron Vail. Coach Vail will join the “The Factory” in September following the conclusion of his Oregon State contract.

Vail brings with him 14 years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I, Division III & NJCAA collegiate levels, along with coaching nationally ranked club softball programs, being a successful high school Head Coach, and is a highly decorated men’s fastpitch player, receiving both ASA All-American and International Softball Congress 23U All-World honors.

Coach Vail is highly connected and highly respected in the softball world for being a strong tactician of the game. In charge of the OSU hitters and infield last season, the Beavers flourished. The Beaver bats set a school record for batting average at .306 while the defense improved its fielding percentage from .951 in 2015 to .962 under Vail’s tutelage. Starting their season 20-4-1, which was the 2nd best pace in school history, the Beavs finished 30-20-1 and secured their 1st NCAA Regional since 2012. Individual honors were also amassed as the 3 of the 4 starting infielders were named to the Pac-12 All-Conference team, while the 4th was drafted by the Scrap Yard Dawgs of the National Pro Fastpitch League.

A true student of the game, Vail has achieved his National Fastpitch Coaches College 4-Star Master Coaching Certification. Currently, Vail is completing his B.S. in Sports Coaching & M.S. in Applied Kinesiology with emphasis in Sports Coaching concurrently through the United States Sports Academy and Texas Women’s University. He is also holds his ASA Ace Level III Certification.

“I am so excited at the opportunity to do what I love to do. Teach the game of fastpitch. Along with that, this will allow me and my family a stronger work and life balance that is very difficult to achieve while coaching collegiately, especially at Division I. While I loved the opportunity to coach at the highest level, and I was able to make a strong impact on those I worked with, the opportunity to do private instruction in San Diego while coaching in an up-and-coming program like “The Factory” is the perfect fit. I can’t wait to get going with these hungry, competitive and committed student athletes.

Coach Vail will be doing private instruction at Advanced Performance, Del Norte High School and other San Diego areas as demand requires. Coach Vail, his wife Andrea, and their children Joshua (10), Easton (3), Beckett (1) & Henry Aaron (1 month) will be permanently moved to San Diego on September 7th, will start with “The Factory” on September 10th and will begin private instruction on September 12th. For more information on private instruction, semi-private instruction or to have Coach Vail work or operate a camp and clinic for you or your program, please visit his website at www.aaronvailfastpitch.com.
